Norwegian authorities and courts may require documents proving that the person concerned has the right to practise as a lawyer in a foreign country. Where such documents have been requested, the person concerned shall not be entitled to provide mutual legal assistance in Norway until satisfactory documents have been submitted, unless the competent authority or court consents to this. This insurance covers our practice in Norway and DLA Piper`s practices in the UK, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and Asia, and covers acts and omissions wherever they occur in the world. The Supervisory Board of Legal Practice (Tilsynsrådet for advokatvirksomhet) is responsible for the recognition of lawyers and other legal professions in Norway. It is also the official body that supervises lawyers practising in Norway. Foreign lawyers established in another country may occasionally provide legal assistance in Norway. With this experience, you can apply for permission to practice as a foreign lawyer in Norway. However, this means that you can only practice international law and the law of your home country.
You will not be able to practice Norwegian law. In addition, you should always use your home country job title and include the name of your home country. You must submit the following documents to the Supervisory Board: To be admitted to the Bar in Norway, you must be an EU/EEA citizen and have studied law in an EU/EEA Member State. If the supervisory board recognises that your legal education is equivalent to that of Norwegian law studies, you can start your legal internship. To become a trainee bar, you need to find a Norwegian lawyer who will hire you and apply for admission as a trainee lawyer on your behalf. After at least two years as a trainee lawyer in Norway and completion of a course in litigation, litigation and ethics, you can apply for Norwegian admission to the Bar. If you obtained your professional qualifications in an EEA country or Switzerland, you may have the right to have your application processed in accordance with the Professional Qualifications Act and the Ordinance on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications. In addition, there are national rules on the practice of the profession, as set out in section 220 of the Norwegian Courts Act and chapters 9 and 10 of the Lawyers Ordinance. CLP and the Company`s employees are required by applicable laws and regulations to keep confidential the information received in connection with the Order. Unless expressly agreed, CLP`s lawyers have the right, if necessary, to involve one or more other lawyers or employees of the firm in the engagement without obtaining the client`s consent to the obligation of confidentiality. In cases where CLP engages external consultants in consultation with the Client, the Client shall be deemed to have consented to CLP`s disclosure of information, including personal data, to such external consultants. Unless otherwise agreed with the Client, CLP has the right to use the Client`s name and the Client`s contact as a reference in marketing CLP to agencies that provide legal advice, in the context of tenders, etc.
Similarly, for marketing purposes, CLP has the right to disclose CLP`s support in matters already known to the public, including the use of the customer`s logo, provided that CLP does not disclose matters that are not known to the public. All Norwegian lawyers of the law firm DLA Piper Norway DA are admitted as lawyers (Advokat) in Norway by the Supervisory Board of Legal Practice (Tilsynsrådet for Advokatvirksomhet). The regulations applicable to the members of the Supervisory Board for the practice of the profession of lawyer appear in section www.tilsynet.no. The preceding paragraph is not intended to modify or extend the liability and limitation of personal liability arising from CLP`s appointment of a competent lawyer under section 232 of the Norwegian Courts Act (Act No. 5 of 13 August 1915). Under the partnership agreement, CLP`s partners cannot be held liable for any liability that the firm may incur as a result of its legal services, provided that at least one of the firm`s lawyers is jointly and severally liable with the firm under section 232 (one) to (four) of the Norwegian Courts Act. If you hold a law degree but do not hold the professional title of lawyer from an EU/EEA Member State and you wish to be admitted to the Norwegian Bar, you can apply as a trainee lawyer in Norway: if you obtained your professional qualifications abroad, you must have your qualifications recognised by the Norwegian authorities to practise in Norway. The competent authority will check whether you meet the conditions to practise the profession and use the professional title in Norway. Personal data will not be disclosed to third parties, except to our IT service provider, see section 4, or to other IT service providers with whom CLP has entered into an order processing agreement, unless such disclosure takes place in connection with CLP`s execution of the order. A foreign lawyer who provides legal assistance in Norway as a “guest lawyer” shall use his professional title in the language or one of the languages of the country in which he holds the licence.
