Scopus Indexed Law Journals in India

Since 2015, it has been published by the international publishing house Springer (which has also led to the fact that journal content and articles are currently locked behind a paywall, although we understand that JGU is working to make more content freely accessible). The International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice (IJCLP) (ISSN 2347-2731) is an open-access, blind, peer-reviewed legal journal published annually by USNSI since 2013 under the auspices of the Chair in Consumer Law and Practice, NLSIU (CLAP). Recently published on SCOPUS, HeinOnline, SCC OnLine & UGC CARE List. This makes JGLR one of 846 law journals that are part of Scopus (which has indexed over 36,000 titles across all subjects) and probably also the first law journal in India to do so (or at least one published by a law school, see caveats below). ** Do not fall victim to journals that make false claims about their indexing in different databases. Scopus is Elsevier`s database of abstracts and citations, launched in 2004. Scopus comprises approximately 36,377 titles (22,794 active titles and 13,583 inactive titles) from approximately 11,678 publishers, of which 34,346 are peer-reviewed journals in leading fields of life sciences, social sciences, natural sciences and health sciences. It includes three types of sources: book series, journals and journals. All journals included in the Scopus database, regardless of under whom they are published, are reviewed annually to ensure that high quality standards are maintained.

Searches in Scopus also include searches of patent databases. JGLS Sonepat`s flagship journal, the Jindal Global Law Review (JGLR), has been included in Elsevier`s online journal citation database, Scopus. The Jindal Global Law Review (JGLR), the journal edited by the faculty of Jindal Global Law School, is now indexed on Scopus. This development is significant because it follows the celebration of the decade of its existence in 2019. In the rigorous process of acceptance by Scopus, an anonymous reviewer said this about the journal: “An imaginative journal and a welcome addition to the field.” “This has several advantages: all international rankings are driven by Scopus and also by citations,” he said. What`s going to happen now, good journals around the world always find people publishing in them, and good people don`t publish in non-Scopus [journals] because they`re not cited. “This is a major breakthrough and the first time an Indian legal journal has been indexed,” Kumar added.
