Companies intending to knowingly export listed chemicals to non-EU countries must notify their intention to export (see Export notification procedure) and obtain confirmation that export is authorised before it can take place (see Explicit consent requirement). PIC implements the Rotterdam Convention within the EU. It promotes shared responsibility and cooperation in the international trade in hazardous chemicals. It also protects human health and the environment by providing importing countries with information on the safe storage, transport, use and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
