BLC prepares the specialist/corporal for the duties and responsibilities of a sergeant. Using the Leadership Requirements Model (LRM) through a holistic approach, learners develop skills in written and oral communication, critical and creative thinking, problem solving, leadership and counselling, exercises and ceremonies, soldier training, character development, nutrition and fitness. troop leadership procedures and mission orders, army programs, and how to build effective teams. As a result, learners will be able to train, lead and perform operations at the team level. Teaching at BLC is done using the Army Experiential Learning (MLL) model. Classes are taught in small groups with a collaborative approach that allows soldiers to discover information and apply it to new and ambiguous situations. Classes include critical and creative thinking activities and exercises to aid learning. Facilitators assess soldiers` leadership and potential by observing discussions and interactions. The NCO Corps has always been a source of leadership and guidance for the soldiers of the lower crew appointed under its command. Most soldiers fear the “JAG” (Judge Advocate General) because of the image they will take your rank, pay you or imprison you.
