During the trip, holders of a driver`s licence must be accompanied by a qualified supervisor who is at least 21 years old and has held a driver`s licence for at least 3 years. The person must sit next to the new driver at all times without other occupants sitting in the front seat. If the vehicle belongs to the learner, the supervising driver is usually insured by the learner`s own insurance and therefore does not need to be insured separately. However, before you start supervising the learner, check the details and if the insurer has set any restrictions, such as: that the supervising driver must be over 25 years old. Regardless of your age, if you have a learner`s licence, you are not allowed to drive unless accompanied by a supervising driver 21 years of age or older who has a valid licence to drive the vehicle you are driving. Conduct a pre-drive check with your learner before practicing driving so they know how to keep the car in a safe and legal condition and get them used to doing regular checks. The learner is invited to prove this knowledge as part of his driving test.
