Berkeley law students have free online access to a range of study aids through the Law Library. Study aids are organized by the publisher (LexisNexis, West Academic or Aspen Learning Library). Within each editor, you can search for a specific title or just browse. Scroll down to get a link to each publisher and a list of available learning aids. For LL.M. students, tutors for the required Fundamentals of U.S. Law course provide office hours and opportunities for individual commentary on writing assignments. Tutors are available to answer questions about law courses and study strategies. We also offer various workshops and presentations designed throughout the year specifically for LL.M. students. The collection contains the law of India, including cases (Supreme Court of India, Supreme Courts, Courts and Commission), legal laws, rules and regulations, and some secondary sources.
Some foreign laws are also available (Constitutional Court of South Africa, West African Court of Appeal, Bangladesh Legal Decisions, Supreme Court of Canada and Supreme Court of Pakistan). Siegel and Emanuel`s CrunchTime study aides include third-choice questions and answers. Siegel`s is not available online, but we have booked it in the library and you can also buy it in bookstores or online. Emanuel CrunchTime is available online for free. Click on this link, then search for Emanuel (there is one for each topic in the first year). As always, if the sample answer explains the law in a different way than your teacher, go to your teacher. West Study Aids provides online access to the full text of more than 500 study aids published by West Academic Publishing, including Hornbooks, Nutshells, Gilbert and Blackletter Outlines, as well as guides on law school success and starting a legal career. Berkeley law students can sign up for their own accounts, allowing them to mark, take notes, download, and print. It is not necessary to go through them all. For an introduction to legal skills, we recommend Bergman, Goodman & Holm, Cracking the Case Method, and McClain, The Guide to Belonging in Law School. Both are available online for free with your CalNet ID. You can also buy printed copies at your local bookstore or at online booksellers. Contains the full text of all decisions published in the United States Patents Quarterly from 1929 to the present. Provides news, analysis, finding aids, treaties, laws and regulations related to patents. Includes access to certain international agreements and treaties. Student staff run the labs, which are designed to introduce basic academic skills such as case briefing, rule analysis and synthesis, sketching, and exam writing.
